ZOO Spišská Nová Ves
ZOO in Spišská Nová Ves in Eastern Slovakia is the youngest and smallest ZOO in Slovakia. It is situated nearby Slovak Paradise and is considered as one of the most beautiful in Slovakia. ZOO covers an area of 8 hectars in the most beautiful area of Madaras park in the South-eastern part of the city, which is a popular place to relax. The ZOO has been open to the general public since 1989.
You can find about 300 animals and 90 species of both exotic and native fauna here. The most attractive are the animals included in the so called Red Book of Endangered Animals. Numerous greenery in ZOO provides pleasant shade for animals and visitors while it facilitates the creation of an arboretum with more than 30 selected species of plants. The one of most remarkable ZOO sights are a lake and creek, they aid to create beautiful scenery.
There are 2 children playgrounds in the ZOO. During the summer time the children may jump on an inflatable giraffe or castle or relax while riding a horse and enjoying other attractions. There are stalls with snacks and souvenirs in the ZOO. Each year many events take place here. The part of ZOO is also pavilon AQUATERRA open all year long with aquarium and terrarium animals and ZOO-shop.
