Natural Classroom on the Banks of the Morské Oko Mountain Lake
Morské Oko, the third largest natural lake in Slovakia, is one of the most beautiful locations in the Košice Self-governing Region. The Morské Oko site is an area with the strictest nature protection, as it is part of the Vihorlat Forest registered in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
Morské Oko is located in the district of Sobrance, and the road to the lake leads through the village of Remetské Hámre.
In addition to the educational trail, the buffet and the Morské Oko Castle, visitors may have fun and learn something new in the outdoor educational classroom located next to the nearby buffet. The classroom consists of 6 outdoor educational games with wooden benches and educational bench-tables intended for all age categories of visitors. In the classroom, you will learn new information and knowledge related to nature and ecology. The entire area is one of the most beautiful still-life sites in Slovakia. It retained its romance and natural charm.
In Remetské Hámre, on the way to Morské Oko, you can stop at the monument to the narrow-gauge forest railway, which consists of a motor locomotive and two railway carriages. The parish Holy Trinity church dating to the 1870s is also located in the village.
