Main Street in Košice in the Behind the Glass series

The series Za sklom (Behind the Glass) was directed by Peter Bebjak, Róbert Šveda, Zuzana Marianková, and Michal Blaško based on the screenplay by Valéria Schulczová and Roman Olekšák. The series was produced in Slovakia in 2016. The main and minor roles are played by Ján Koleník, Tomáš Maštalír, Juraj Loj, Kamila Magálová, Milan Ondrík, Rebeka Poláková, Jiří Bartoška, Sáva Popovič, Ľuboš Kostelný, Anton Šulík Jr., Martin Nahálka, and others. The film also takes place on the Main Street in Košice in the time sequence od 30th and 50th minute in the 4th episode of the 3rd series.

The work of elite policemen Tibor Maxovský (Tomáš Maštalír) and Norbert Višváder (Ján Koleník) consists in revealing the most difficult organised crime. They are determined to capture the murderer of their colleague. However, the investigation gets complicated. They uncover a deeper- and deeper-rooted evil reaching into the drug business and top politics. But the investigation eventually pits the two of them against each other as well.

One of the most successful series of JOJ television impressed with the setting, the acting, but also the screenplay, which looked for inspiration in the real world, in many well-known media cases, and in real Slovak politics. The creators largely managed to make do with many exteriors, spaces, and natural locations in the capital. One of the few exceptions, however, is in episode 4 of series 3, when the film's setting shifts momentarily to the metropolis of the East. The drone camera has been filming the Main Street in the direction of St. Elizabeth's Cathedral during a clear day, and towards the end of the episode's conclusion, another drone shot continues towards above the National Theatre. In the story, two investigators (Adrian Jastraban and Jana Kolesárová) arrive at the NAKA's Košice branch, which is, however, represented by a building and a street in Bratislava. Košice thus featured in the series with only a few drone shots of the most characteristic sites of Košice and its historical centre.
