Kunsthalle / Hall of Art
The Hall of Art, or also known as the Kunsthalle, is one of the most interestingly designed buildings in Košice. It is located in the building of a former public swimming pool, in close proximity to the center of the city and it focuses on collecting and presenting pieces of present, visual art. The pool located in the central hall is filled with art works from domestic and foreign artists. Kunsthalle has been visited by some worldwide known artists such as British sculpturer Tony Cragg as well as a founder of op-art and hydrokinetic art (Košice native) Gyula Košice. His statue can be seen in front of the hall. Other famous foreign artists include the well known Romania photographer Constantin Brancusi and the British artist Damien Hirst, holder of a Turner award.
