Kláštorisko
Kláštorisko, located in the heart of the Slovak Paradise (760 m above sea level), is an important archaeological park and tourist center. This place offers a fascinating insight into the history of the region, where humans settled as early as prehistoric times. Among the canyons and gorges are the remains of a 14th-century monastery, founded by Carthusian monks. The monastery served as a refuge from Tatar invasions and became the center of the order.
Kláštorisko is accessible from several hiking trails, including trails through Tomášovský výhľad, Suchá Belá or the Hornád Gorge. In addition to historical monuments, the site offers stunning views of the Spiš Basin.
Reconstruction work and various cultural events take place here annually. If you visit Kláštorisko, you can explore not only the ruins of the monastery, but also discover interesting archaeological finds that reveal the life of our ancestors in this unique environment.
